On the patient's first visit, a full medical history form is completed by the practitioner. This includes personal data and contact details, past and current medical conditions and treatments received, medications, allergies and any relevant family medical history. The patient is then asked remove their outer clothing and perform a carefully structured series of simple postural exercises. These will allow the practitioner to determine precisely which parts of the body are affected by structural lesions, muscle spasms or other postural abnormalities. Once the problem areas have been isolated, the practitioner calculates exactly which Muscle Energy Technique treatments should be used to correct them.
